Wednesday February 10, 2005:

Kirk's Crew Chief called around 7:00 PM and said that the truck was loaded and they were pulling out for Daytona.

He said they got a Yate's motor and they hoped to qualify within the top 35. He said they feel like a top 35 qualifying spot will get them into the qualifying race and they feel they can do good in the qualifying race and make the Daytona 500.

He also said that they had hoped to run a Chevy instead of a Ford but the car was not done in time. They will most likely run a Chevy for the rest of the season.

Saturday February 12, 2005:

During Nextel Cup practice, the 27 car blew a seal and leaked oil all over the track. Not good news for Kirk but great news for JCMECI. The TV cameras stayed on the car as it coasted around the track revealing the JCMECI logo on the rear quarter panel. After the commercial break, the TV cameras focused on the 27 car in the garage as they made repairs again revealing the JCMECI logo.

The crew got the car repaired for the second practice session.

Sunday February 13, 2005:

The 27 car went out for qualifying in the next to last place and ended up 41st in speed out of the 57 cars that qualified.

This puts the 27 car into the second qualifying race on Thursday, February 17th starting in the 19th spot.

Wednesday February 16, 2005:

In order to make the race, Kirk must finish ahead of all but one of the following in the Gatorade Duel 150 (#2):

1- Martin Truex Jr.

7- Robby Gordon

37 - Kevin Lepage

173 - Eric McClure

13 - Greg Sacks

155 - Derrike Cope

152 - Larry Gunselman

80 - Andy Belmont

Kirk qualified in front of all of those drivers, except Robby Gordon and Martin Truex Jr.

Thursday February 17, 2005:

Greg Sacks in the 13 car (yes the 13 car) got loose and turned right in front of Kirk in the 27 car in the second Gatorade Duel Qualifying Race. Both cars had too much damage to repair and both went to the garage. Kirk will not compete in the Daytona 500 in 2005.
